The combination of one of my favourite TV programmes- motoring show Top Gear- and one of my all time favourite films- motoring based The Italian Job (1969 original)- seemed just too good to be true. And sadly it was.

The TG team had planned to recreate the cliff hanger ending to the Caine classic, in conjunction with the Royal Chemistry Society, in order to solve to problem of how to get the gold safely home. Apparently it cost too much. Read here about what might have been...
