Deal Or No Deal
I have to admit to being more than a little confused. Imagine you intend to make a so-called Big Ticket purchase, such as a new car or even a house. Most of us will have an idea of the maximum we are prepared to pay; you could say there can’t be many right minded people who would buy a car for example no matter the cost. Therefore for most of us, there is a point at which you are prepared to walk away if you can’t agree terms.
Today our Members of Parliament are yet again debating the terms of the UK’s departure from the European Union and our future relationship with the EU. Some MP’s are actively campaigning to remove the prospect of a “no deal” exit as an option. Here’s my confusion: if the UK can’t agree terms with the EU and you’ve removed the option of simply walking away, in order to honour the referendum vote, are we not forced to accept whatever the EU demands, buy that new car no matter the cost? Not much of a negotiating position is it?

Flinders
It seems quite apt that on the eve of Australia Day, it has been announced the grave of explorer Matthew Flinders has been discovered in London.
Lincolnshire born Captain Flinders was the first (Western) man to circumnavigate around Terra Australis, accompanied by a guide named Bungaree. Flinders died in 1814 at the age of just 40 and was buried in a grave, whose exact location was quickly lost, in St James' Gardens London. Workers excavating the site of the new HS2 terminal discovered his resting place and that of some 40000 others. All the remains will be catalogued and transported to a new permanent resting place.
Oh and to Aussies everywhere, happy Australia Day.

Letter Of The Law
A while ago UK retailer Iceland vowed to remove Palm Oil from their own-label products by the end of last year. According to a report from the BBC today they've achieved their goal by a certain amount of slight of hand. I'm not sure this is sticking to the spirit of the promise, let alone the strict terms of their commitment...

Milestone
LL is 15 today, wow. Can't quite believe where the years have gone. One minute he was a tiny helpless little thing, now he is rapidly approaching adulthood. Wish he could have known Mum and Dad a bit longer.
Oh and a childhood hero of mine turns 85 today. Still has a voice like treacle and if I'm honest, still a hero to me LOL.

Grindelwald
Big on spectacular set-pieces but I couldn't fight the feeling this was definitely a "middle film" designed to put in pieces for the rest of the franchise. Nevertheless it's always a pleasure returning to J K Rowling's magical world. Can't believe it took so long to get to the cinema to see it LOL.

Rubbish
Can't quite believe it: some rubbish, or a stone, was thrown up on the M4 this morning hitting my lovely car. Have only had it a month and now I have a lovely chip in the windscreen that can't be repaired. Brilliant! Guess who's having to fork out for a new screen..?

Sad But True..?
According to my Google Maps Timeline, in 2018 I made 78 visits to my local supermarket. I'd like to say that can't be right but somehow I have a suspicion this figure might be a tad understated.
I guess trips to their filling station for fuel or to get money from the cash point machines might also count. There, I'm starting to feel better about it already LOL.

Map Of The World
Look what silver loveliness has arrived!
To celebrate the 1812 New Map of the World- following Captain Cooks voyages on The Endeavour- the Royal Australian Mint have issued this coin. This is a limited edition legal tender AU$5 coin, weighing in at 99.9% silver, with a twist or should I say curve!
Enjoy these images (note the last is a stock photo).
