A few days before the end of February the UK Met Office announced Spring was due to start on 1st March. So what, you might ask; many countries mark the beginning of the seasons on the first day of a given month.
The only problem for me is that I was taught as a child that seasons were determined by the position of the Earth relative to the Sun. For the UK, that would mean Spring starting as the Sun enters the Northern Hemisphere on the Equinox, about 21st March.
And the point of this rambling observation?
Well since Winter is 'officially' over, how come it's been so bitterly cold since Sunday and it's been snowing heavily? So heavily in fact that car drivers were stuck overnight in their vehicles.
Spring. I don't think so LOL.
