Many will be familiar with the British tangy table relish, Worcestershire Sauce which dates back to the 1800's. What most don't realise is that a good number of towns and cities had similar relishes, such as Reading Sauce (a surviving bottle and recipe can be found in the museum), which for various reasons didn't survive.
However one survivor that is quite readily available is Henderson's Relish from Sheffield in Yorkshire. Still family owned and manufactured in Sheffield, it has a 130 year history. A little stronger in flavour than it's more well known stable mate, it is definitely worth trying.
