What Spider Are You?

I found these two around the house this weekend. Don't they look great? But I really don't know what varieties they are, does anyone have a clue? Suggestions appreciated.

Coming Second

Let's face it Great Britain was never going to out perform a power house such as the USA, were we? But to beat the likes of China and be placed second on the medals table is a mighty achievement. Well done to all Team GB's Olympic stars.

Who's A Lucky Boy!

Well actually having been left feeling like a like a second class citizen by my mobile phone company, I felt I had no choice but to find a better deal.

Love a new gadget LOL.

Fifty And Five

I've not mentioned the 2016 Olympics so far, you might have noticed. To be honest I've not had time to watch even the TV highlights. Having said that it is time to mark the milestone for Team GB, having already exceeded their medal target of 48 for the games. As of this morning we have won fifty medals: a fantastic achievement by our sports people. And we still have five days of competition ahead of us, so hopes are high for our talented women and men who proudly represent this country in the coming events.

Oh and did I mention Great Britain are in second position on the medal table? Unheard of LOL!

Unfair Use?

Apparently my mobile (or cell, US folks) phone company believes that an Unlimited Data plan actually means a limit of 3.5GB per month. This is despite offering plans capped at 5GB and 10GB, for a lesser fee. How does that work?

Tin

Some will be aware I'm quite partial to Yorkshire Tea AND limited edition tins. A weird combination I know. Add to that mix The Gruffalo, what's not to like LOL?

Late Night Visitor

Sadly these days we don't see too many of these fellow's in this neck of woods. A shame since they are very good at hunting down slugs and other undesirables.

The Future Is Here?

In a world first, on-line retailer Amazon has today announced they are to be given permission by the UK government to trial parcel delivery by remote Drone.

This is going to be in both rural and town/city locations. Amazon claim their devices will be able to deliver a parcel within half hour of ordering. The retailer proposes that a single operator might "fly" several Drones and probably won't have the benefit of line of sight control. At present each commercial Drone flown in the UK skies must have its own dedicated operator and always remain within view, so this is a huge leap of faith.

Already people have started questioning the safety, security, privacy and noise pollution issues associated with this idea. Obviously some have pointed out that our beloved Royal Mail might be put out of business, never mind all the other delivery services such as DPD or DHL.

My thought is more mundane: if I decide to buy a Drone from Amazon, how will it be delivered LOL?

Wilde About Oscar

Literature and history fans might be interested to know that the (former) Reading Gaol is to open to the public in the Autumn. A short run arts project celebrating Wilde and other artists and writers connected with the prison will feature readings and presentations by well known actors and musicians, as well as works using differing media. A link to the BBC News item about it can it be found here. Might take myself along.

Temperatures in the UK are predicted to reach 34 degrees Celsius (the low 90's degs F) today, phew! By the end of week, it is expected to be cooler again, shame.
