The new decade is nearly here... what will the future have in store..? Certainly for those Downunder we hope they will soon see reprieve from the fires and extreme heat.
I hope everyone will have a safe, prosperous and happy 2020. Cheers!

Lambs
Good, strong and dark Aussie drama, courtesy of Foxtel and Britbox. With so many streaming services available plus traditional linear television, things have never looked better...

Long And Short
Longest night, shortest day, in the Northern hemisphere today. I'll be glad when it's not quite so dark in the mornings and afternoons.

Vote
Polls have now opened for our latest General Election. Here's hoping this time we might actually see a full five year term.

Vote Again
This time next week we should know the outcome of our latest general election. Depending on who our Prime Minister is, I may well be packing my bags LOL.
We'll over look the spelling mistake, just this once LOL.

Manners Maketh Man (Or Woman)
What is it with people these days, when out, saying "Can I get" when it should be "Can I have" or better still "Please can I have"?
If you really want to be correct there should be a "May I" or "I would like, please" thrown into the vocabulary mix. Don't even get me started on the disappearance of that simple word that acknowledges receipt and shows gratitude, "Thank(you)." It just seems to me that people have become so rude and self obsessed that they show little regard to the person who is providing the service or goods.
Rant over.

1919
Or to be exact, 19 hours and 19 minutes is the duration of the officially recorded longest non-stop commercial airline flight. Well done to Aussie flag carrier Qantas for making the flight this week from London to Sydney with a full crew and I believe 55 fee paying passengers. The great land Downunder just got a whole lot closer!

A Grand Day Out!
It hardly seems true that plasticine heroes Wallace and Gromit have turned 30 does it? They first landed on the moon in search of cheese in 1989. Since then they have had numerous adventures across media and spawned some very popular and amusing spin-offs.
To mark their evergreen adventures, the Royal Mint have produced a cracking good 50p coin. Mine- in limited edition silver proof- arrived today. It's a bit splendid, wouldn't you agree?

Playa Del Ingles
A pictorial round up of the last couple of days... oh and it's considerably warmer than back home LOL.

Border Force
Look what we have here! My raised borders along by the fence line are nearly complete. Just in time for Winter LOL. It is amazing what you can achieve with a few metres of gravel board, some damp proof course material and manual labour. Sadly some of the plants are looking a tad the worse for wear; I think they have been in pots for too long but I'm sure they might recover.

Socks Appeal
Patriotic right down to my toes LOL.
It is however such a pity our elected representatives- our Members of Parliament- have currently made this country a laughing stock.

Filling Up
It's amazing what you can do at filling stations these days. Apart from the obvious car related activities such as fuel, car wash or air for the tyres, how about buying a fancy coffee? Or how about your weekly shop or charcoal for the barbeque? Send parcels? Yep we can do that too. So how about a service wash for your laundry? I've seen it all now LOL!

Tasmanian Christmas
Just look at this lovely Aussie 50c coin, which doubles as a pop out tree hanger! This specimen was kindly sent to me from the land of those devils, Tasmania. I believe this is the first year RAM has issued a Christmas coin (please correct me if I am in error) and isn't it a real beaut?

Marathon Man
Even after all these years I still think about Marathon bars, not Snickers LOL. Nice to see these back in the shops even if for a limited period.
In addition I could not help but be tempted by this offering from budget store Poundland, which quite possibly owes a little inspiration to a well known triangular confectionery...

Not Sharing!
Just look what arrived in the post today, from an international food importer! A delicacy- you might say- I discovered a few years ago on a visit to the land Downunder. Quite why these were never really launched in other countries is beyond me.
Apparently these are best consumed before May 2020. Don't think they are going to last that long, do you LOL?
