Super And Blue

A blue moon and a super moon in one night. It's said to be blue because it is the second new moon in a calendar month and super because it is at its closest to planet Earth.

Super blue moon or blue super moon. You decide LOL.

Sydney

Just in time for the Australia - England World Cup semi-final, the postie delivered this beaut of a coin. The Sydney Opera House celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The Royal Australia Mint (RAM) have issued this lovely 50c coin to mark this milestone.

Commiserations to the Matildas and the co-hosts Australia. It was a marvellous match. England's Lionesses are now through to the final and have arguably achieved far more than their male counterparts.

Goodbye Berkshire Records Office

Today the Berkshire Records Office celebrates 75 years.

To mark this momentous occasion the service- which supports all councils across Berkshire (Bracknell Forest, Reading Borough, West Berkshire, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Slough and Wokingham Borough) is changing its name to the Royal Berkshire Archives.

Quote

Heard a brilliant quote recently:

"When the cheese is on the table, that's when the rats come."

Let's just think about that for a moment.

Omens

As a Terry Pratchett fan I really enjoyed the adaptation of the book Good Omens, as the first series, on Amazon Prime. The second series picks up some of the themes and expands them. Definitely well worth the wait.

Co-author Neil Gaiman has suggested plans had been put in place for a second book and these might form the basis of a potential series 3. Finger's crossed.

In the meantime there's the rare treat of seeing actor Ty Tennant sharing screen time with his father and grandfather. Having had roles in the recent War of the Worlds series and House of the Dragon (alongside Matt Smith), perhaps in a few years there might be another part young Tennant might like to play? Just to keep it in the family LOL.

Blue Moon

Many will be familiar with the phrase "Once in a Blue Moon," meaning something that is extremely rare. Well according to a report on the radio this morning, August will give the UK the opportunity to see a Blue Moon. Weather permitting.

Needless to say an expert was called upon to detail exactly what a Blue Moon was, how they come to pass and obviously how frequently they occur. The Astronomer Royal for Scotland (who knew there was such a position?!?) was on hand to explain all. It seems these events happen approximately once every two and a half years, so not at all that rare then.

At least we now know, when a person uses the Blue Moon as a method of measuring time and therefore the likelihood of something happening, we won't actually have too long to wait LOL.

Ring

Haven't seen this in a good few years. It's a bit too snug for my fat fingers though LOL.

Not Hot

Found elsewhere on the Internet. Sadly this year in the UK, it looks like summer will be below average.

Blue And White

Looks like my white Agapanthus is to flower for the first time, it's taken nearly three years. About time too. Here's an image of the beautiful plant, together with my blue counterpart.

Bizarre facts you hear on morning radio: on this day, 14th July in 1881 Henry McCarty, aka William H Bonney, aka Billy the Kid was killed at age 21.
