Beer

As some of you know, having aquired a taste while visiting Boston a good few years back, I love Sam Adams Boston Beer but being stuck in the UK have problems getting hold of the stuff. I like it so much I even bought shares in the company!

My local Waitrose and Sainsbury supermarkets used to stock it until around Christmas 06 but for whatever reason don't anymore. So my quest began to find anywhere else that stocked Sam. So far no good.

However while visiting Tesco's recently I discovered they now carry Brooklyn Lager- another gem of a beer I have had the good fortune to sample. I cleared the shelves in the Wokingham store last week.

I would invite all beer lovers to give these two wonderful products a try; you never know you might enjoy them.

And if anyone has any suggestions where I might get hold of Sam Adams beer here in the UK, please let me know.

Battlestar Geek

Gonna sound really sad now.

Having lost access to Sky a while back, I haven't been able to get my fix of season 3 of Battlestar Galactica.

So I've bought the Mini-Series plus seasons 1 and 2 cheaply on DVD with the intention of watching each and every episode in order. I'm halfway through season 1 and had forgotted just how good it is and what compelling drama it is.

Can't wait til season 3 drops through my letter box.

Have received something of a knock-back today.

Heard that my mum's liver has not responded to the treatment and although no worse is certainly not any better. Life is shit at times.

Should the bottle still sport an image of the Houses of Parliament if the product is no longer British? Answers on a postcard or back of a sealed down envelope to the usual competition address.

Out on a Limb

Ok gonna go out on a limb here.

Watched Casino Royale over the weekend and I have to say I was underwelmed.

Accepted it's meant to be reboot of the franchaise and yeah Daniel Craig was an interesting, perhaps inspired choice for the lead. But where was the humour to temper the violence of some scenes? However it's great to see Bond getting beaten and the scars lasting beyond one scene instead of using some sort of Star Trek style reset.
You either love or loathe the fabulous gadgets from Q Branch. They were all gone in favour of running around, more fights and double crossing. I miss those gadgets- was there not even room for a pen that turns into a one-shot death ray LOL? Sure he had a tracking devise that enabled the backroom boys in London to monitor the hero but this was meant to be James Bond and I expected more. This looked more like any number of competent Hollywood produced action-adventure spy movies and not Britain's most loved spy.
On another note. Doctor Who returned to our screens this weekend. Wow- that was only the first episode! Can it get any better?

At the launch of series three last night, the BBC confirmed Doctor Who would be back for a forth season. Yea- more travels in Time and Space!

Wedding

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending T & S's wedding in historic Arundel. A great time was had by all including, I trust, the Bride and Groom.
The poor quality image is down to me and I'm afraid doesn't really do justice to the event or the Bride and Groom.

Mum, Dad and I took Little Lad out for the morning to Henley on Thames, to feed the ducks today. Weather was beautiful and the ducks, geese and gulls were exceptionally pleased for the bread. Strangely, no swans to be seen anywhere.

Nice to see Mum laughing and enjoying time with Little Lad. He was equally pleased to be out with his grandparents. He sees them most weeks but at the moment it's mostly house-bound time. It's been a difficult week so time out was well deserved.
Elsewhere, The Royals visiting Manchester City won 2-0. Puts Reading in 6th position (their highest ever I think) on 40 points, which should ensure they are guaranteed to play in the Premiership next season.

Next stop Europe?
