End Child Labour Now!

OK so a little misleading with the title.

The weather was so nice today and I had the pleasure of Little Lad assisting me washing my car. The car was long over due and having him help, just made it so much fun. He took it so seriously and did a really good job, up to a certain height LOL.

By the way, for those who are interested, Mum is making some progress and now looking a bit more healthy. She's now off the IV line, so that's a step forward.

Lost and Found

Last night around midnight I thought I had lost something valuable (to me at least). Don't know why it happened but I suddenlt realised I had not seen the item for a couple of months and could clearly picture where I had last seen it.

After around an hour of quietly turning my room upside down, not to mention the attic room and also my car by torch light, I determined I had lost it and settled back to bed. Yet another thing to worry about and add to the list of things keeping me awake.

Needless to say this morning with little effort, I found it.

Isn't it strange how the mind works at times? For no apparent reason something pops into your head and bugs you. It becomes the most important thing yet your rational mind keeps trying to butt in and tell you it's not important, that it can wait. That voice is a little quieter than it should be and somehow the things that play on your mind take on a life of their own...

One Step Forward, Two Back...

Yesterday mum had to be readmitted to hospital.

It appears the "C Dificile" hospital superbug she had a few weeks or so back has returned with a vengance and with it the severe diarrhoea and sickness she had before. Mum has not really been eating for nearly a week and is unable to take on enough fluids. She is very ill.

A Little Bit of Good News

Mum had a meeting with her consultant today to review her recent scan results and progress in general.

The good news is that for the first time since being diagnosed in Sept 06, the tumour in her Liver is slightly reduced. The hospital have lined up some meetings with other specialists, do some more tests and build her up over the next month, then restart the chemo treatments.

Mum is still very frail and the hospital obviously doesn't want us get our hopes up just yet but even so this is the first positive result. Yea! :-)

Geekness

Just received an email to say my order for season 3 of Battlestar Galactica is now on it's way. I know I'm gonna sound like a Sci-Fi Geek but who cares- I'm so excited! LOL

Really enjoying Heroes as well, now it has arrived on BBC2.

Sunshine & Swimming

Looks like the sun has decided to put in an appearance this week. Welcome back- it's been a while!

I think also I may be able to restart swimming lessons with Little Lad in September. They had severe problems with the pool they were using back in December last year. After a couple of false starts, where the pool was OK for a couple of weeks then out of action for several, it seems all is up and running. Can't wait to get back in the water with him. Not so sure about the early starts on a Saturday though.

Assult with a Sausage!

Just heard this on the radio so had to check it out.

A boy of 12 has appeared in court today, charged with assulting a man with a cocktail sausage. Apparently the "victim" thought he had been hit with a stone. Can't he tell the difference? One is rather crunchy, the other tastes of pork.

The child's mother said the court action was an "utter joke." but accepted her son should receive some type of reprimand. Manchester Police and the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) are now reviewing the case after the judge questioned their decision to bring it before the courts.

I'm just pleased to know that crime levels are now so low that all the police have to worry about is underage food fights. Don't even get me started on how much tax payer money this has all cost.

Time to Think

Let's just take a moment to consider what we can all learn from getting a bunch of naked people to stand in front of a Swiss glacier.

Life on Mars

So a US network is to remake the BBC's excellent 1970's set Life on Mars.

Apparently the original was too "British" and the accents too difficult for an American audience.

The lead roles are therefore to be recast so US viewers can better understand and identify.

Irish actors Jason O'Mara and Colm Meaney have been cast.

How does that work then? Is a strong Irish accent easier to understand?

Besides I always thought the US already had a 70's cop series: Starsky and Hutch. LOL

Snape'd

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Of all the Harry Potter films I've seen, this will be the fifth. LOL

Having recently re-read the book prior to seeing the film, I'm convinced the big fight towards the end looked far better at the cinema than it ever did in my mind. Don't know why- it's usually the other way round, with the cinema version being a kind of let-down but not this time.
