I had to go to Ascot today, to attend Heatherwood hospital. It's all shiny and very new. Seemed to be quite efficiently run too. This is in stark contrast to my previous visit, years ago, when many of the buildings looked very much like WW2 era huts that had been repurposed as hospital wards and treatment rooms etc. Corridors that patients were wheeled through, pre and post operation, were basically screened from the elements by plastic sheeting in places. It really had very run-down and tired looking appearance.
