Captain Brown

I've been listening on the radio to stories about Capt Eric "Winkle" Brown, who died on Sunday at the age of 97.

He had an extraordinary life, was a world record holder and true war hero. Read more here. He flew 487 different types of aeroplane, a record it is unlikely anyone will better.

Isn't it a pity the people we revere these days are X-Factor winners and so called reality TV stars?

Making a welcome return to the skies over the south of England, the Sun could be seen putting in an appearance this afternoon. With temperatures reaching a giddy 7 degrees Celsius, a whole 10 degrees above the start of my day, you might be forgiven for thinking Spring was just around the corner. We'll see...

Cut

You know, every time my hair is cut there seems to be less and less to clear away afterwards. Why!?!

My optometrist, who uses something like a x9 magnification to study eyes, has told me I have "amazing eyelashes."

What can I say? I don't use extensions LOL.

Excited Much?

Only a few days after the excellent Victorian themed episode was broadcast, look what dropped through my letter box.

And look, it comes with an exciting free colouring poster! So much fun to be had. How old am I LOL?

One Festival

Given that retailers are already selling Easter Eggs, Hot Cross Buns and Valentine's cards, I suspect our festivals and celebrations will one day soon merge. May I be the first to wish you all a very Happy Valenteastermas LOL.

Mind you I guess for those based in the United States, I should probably make that Valenteastergivingmas.

On another (totally selfish) note I have discovered a shop in Reading that sells yummy Violet Crumble chocolate bars, all the way from Downunder. Lucky me.

It has rained every day this year; perhaps we really are twinned with that planet from the Star Trek franchise...

Seriously though at least we've not been flooded out unlike some unfortunate parts of the UK. Must have been hell in parts of Cumbria and elsewhere this Christmas.
